Most of us are now familiar with the cannabinoid CBD because it has received a lot of attention in the dietary supplement and medical industries. But what about CBD crystals? This is something pretty new to the market so we're going to show you what they are and how to dose and use them properly.
What are CBD Crystals?
CBD crystals are the cleanest and purest form of CBD available today. They achieve a purity of 98% with marginal traces of other cannabinoids and terpenes in the mix. This product and its purity are achieved using various extraction methods, one of which is the supercritical CO₂ process. The plant material is filtered out to remove any unwanted components such as excess wax. The resulting end product is a CBD isolate that has a powdery crystal form (hence the name) and looks like fine sugar.
The advantage of CBD crystals is that they can be dissolved in food and drinks, applied sublingually or as an ointment like many conventional CBD products, or they can be vaporized or dabbed on. This opens up a whole new world of CBD consumption options (more on that later). In addition, the crystals lack the strong and bitter taste that most consumers find inedible in other CBD products. Of course, CBD crystals also contain 0% THC, which means they are not psychoactive.
How to properly dose CBD crystals
First of all, you don't have to worry about ingesting too much CBD. It's non-toxic so you can't overdose on it. However, at a higher dosage you could definitely be chilled more than expected, which would be a waste of crystals / money. As with everything else, you should always start slowly and work your way up to the desired effect.
Although the dosage will depend on various factors such as weight, health, and metabolism, experts recommend starting with 5-25 mg per day. The average starting dose is 10 mg. Always look at the label of your CBD product, because it should state the amount of CBD in the product and a recommended serving size.
With CBD crystals, accurate scales are an absolute must. You need to weigh the crystals to get a correct dosage. If the recommended average daily dose is 10 mg, and most CBD products are to be consumed 3-4 times a day, that would mean vaping, dabbing, or ingesting 2,5-3,3 mg of CBD crystals per dose.
The next step is to listen to your body and become aware of any positive or negative effects. You should wait 3-4 hours after the first dose, as it can sometimes take a while for the full effect to be felt. If you don't feel any effect at all after a few hours, take a slightly larger amount. Once you get to the point where you start noticing an effect, you should stick with this dosage for about a week.
During this week, you should watch your body closely. What is your general health, mental state and energy level? Knowing this, you can now increase or decrease the dosage to get the desired effect. But don't rush the process! Start small and make only small adjustments. No big increases! This way you won't waste money by ingesting too much, but you won't get a weak effect either.
Different methods of consumption
This is by far the most popular way to use CBD crystals. Basically, you melt the concentrate and inhale the cloud of vapor. The only real downside to this method is that if you've never dabbed, you'll need some accessories. This includes a dab rig, lighter, dabbing tool, and of course your CBD extract. When you have all the necessary utensils together, you put the crystals on the dab tool, heat the nail with your welding torch until it glows, wait 30-60 seconds until it has cooled down a bit, put the crystals on the nail to put them around to melt and inhale. You will feel the effects almost immediately, which is an advantage over other methods. This is also the most efficient way to consume CBD crystals and has the best taste.
Under the tongue
The easiest way to ingest CBD crystals is to dissolve them under your tongue. Hold them there for 60-90 seconds. This way, the crystals go straight into your bloodstream so you can feel the effects almost immediately.
Vaping is pretty similar to dabbing in that it kicks in faster and the overall taste is better. You don't need as many utensils as you do with dabbing, but you do need a quality vaporizer designed to use concentrates (vapes for CBD flowers are not suitable). Pour your extract in, heat it to the temperature you want, and steep. As simple as that! But do not heat it too much, otherwise carcinogenic substances and benzenes get into the mixture, which we want to avoid as much as possible. This also applies to dabbing CBD crystals.
Mix vape liquid
You can also mix CBD crystals with your favorite vape liquid. Add the desired amount of crystals to the vape liquid and shake it to dissolve the CBD. Please note that there are health risks associated with consuming e-liquids, so using CBD crystals may not be the best option for you.
Just like with cannabis, you can soak CBD crystals in coconut oil or butter to make edibles. Simply melt the butter or oil on the lowest setting and add the crystals. Stir for 5 minutes until completely dissolved. After that, the mixture is ready to be combined with the other ingredients in your recipe. The taste will not be as overwhelmingly "herbaceous" as cannabis can sometimes be. But as with all edibles, it can take a long time for the effects to kick in, around 1-2 hours.
Mix with carrier oil
You can use either hemp, olive, or coconut oils for best results. Basically, you make your own CBD Oil ago, but a much stronger one. You need to heat the oil, along with the crystals, in a hot water bath for about 10 minutes so that they blend together completely. For the dosage: 1.000 mg of CBD crystals in 10 ml of oil result in a concentration of 10% CBD. This is also the most economical way to use CBD crystals.
